Plant hire has a footprint. Here's how OJD Services works to reduce ours — and helps customers recover more material.
OJD Services recognises that our activities, and the equipment we supply, have an environmental impact. We are committed to managing that impact responsibly and to supporting the transition to a circular economy.
We aim to prevent pollution, comply with all relevant environmental legislation, and continually improve our environmental performance. We work in the spirit of recognised environmental management standards such as ISO 14001 and expect our team, suppliers and partners to share this commitment.
A significant part of our fleet exists specifically to recover value from waste. Our shredders and material handlers help customers process and sort material so it can re-enter the supply chain rather than going to landfill:
By hiring rather than buying, customers keep high-value machines in shared, efficient use — reducing the embodied carbon of manufacturing equipment that would otherwise sit idle.
We prioritise modern, low-emission machines, including Stage V engines where available, to reduce exhaust emissions and noise. We encourage efficient operation, sensible idling practices and, where suitable, the use of approved lower-carbon fuels.
We manage our own waste responsibly, recycling where possible and disposing of oils, filters and consumables through licensed routes. Machines are supplied clean and well-maintained to minimise leaks, and we support customers in following spill-prevention good practice on site.
Preventative maintenance extends machine life, improves fuel efficiency and reduces waste. Components are repaired and reused where practical, and end-of-life equipment is dealt with through responsible recycling and recovery.
This policy is reviewed regularly. We set ourselves practical objectives to reduce impact over time and welcome feedback from customers and partners on how we can do better.
